LA News: TV Asahi announced that they are producing the live-action series adaptation of Yu Toyota’s “Papa and Daddy’s Home Cooking” to be streamed on Saturday, October 4th.
The cast for the live-action series includes So Matsushima of Timelesz as Akira Sengoku, a chiropractor and a single father after his ex-wife leaves their daughter with him. He’s considered a bad cop of the duo, being hot-headed but gradually becoming a better father. Jin Shirasu as Masahiro Harumi, a manga editor and a single father after his wife leaves him with their son. He’s a kind and gentle good cop, though his workaholic tendencies contributed to his wife’s departure.
Other cast members include Nono Tanahashi as Airi Sengoku, a young child left with Sengoku by his ex-wife, and Sakura as Seiichiro Harumi, a young boy who is now under Harumi’s care.
Takuma Sato and Naomi Kinoshita are directing the series, and Ureha Shimada and Tatsuya Yamanishi are writing the scripts.
The series was published in Shinchosha’s Monthly Comic Bunch magazine from April 2014 to July 2020, and released in 13 book volumes. A spinoff was also released in Shinchosha’s Go Go Bunch and Comic Bunch Web from April 2016 to July 2021, and released in 3 book volumes. Mangamo released the original series in English in January 2023.
The official poster and premiere date have been revealed for the upcoming Japanese BL series #PapaAndDaddysHomeCooking.
