“When a long-lasting love begins to be questioned, tonight becomes too difficult to sleep.” This is the story of Aon, 54, and her boyfriend, Jira, 55, who have been together for almost 7 years. Their relationship is showing signs of reaching a dead end. The days filled with laughter are gradually fading into silence. Accumulated stress is causing Aon to experience insomnia.
Aon , 54, a cartoonist once famous for his work “Kittima, the Magical Girl of the Enchanted City,” is facing a vulnerable period in his life. His career is failing, his health is declining, and his relationship with his 55-year-old marketing professional, Jira, is showing signs of nearing a dead end. The laughter they once shared has gradually faded. Accumulated stress is causing Aon insomnia, and a fortune teller has predicted that this year will be a year of “breakup” in his life.
When their anniversary arrived, a series of misfortunes befell Aun. His new job was rejected, he had an accident that injured his arm, ruining the anniversary cake. And when he returned home, Jira still acted indifferent. The pent-up emotions of both of them finally exploded, leading to the question: “Can this relationship survive?”
Ultimately, the couple agreed to try and rekindle their romance, while life presented them with numerous challenges, including work, gaining family acceptance, and caring for those around them who were also facing their own problems.
Fortunately, Aon and Jira still have their group, “Spectrum Fabulous,” Aon’s close friends from high school, which includes Chol , a tattoo artist ; Tai, a music producer; and Nidnoi , Chol’s girlfriend and the youngest member of the group, who provide them with guidance and support. Being surrounded by people who love them helps Aon and Jira begin to see a way to fix their lives, which are currently on a downward spiral, as well as their relationship.
I couldn’t sleep tonight, so this is a story told through the little things of everyday life that seem ordinary, yet are warm, gentle, and sincere, full of beauty, diversity, and honesty to my own heart.

Upon their anniversary, Ohn faces a relentless series of misfortunes. A promising job slips through his fingers. While carrying an anniversary cake from a shop, he was struck by a motorcycle, injuring his arm and messing up the cake completely. After he returned home, Jira continued to ignore him like he’s not there. Eventually, both let out emotional outbursts. All of a sudden, a question popped up in their mind: Can they keep their love alive?
Determined not to give up, Ohn and Jira decide to fight for their relationship. But life continues to test them, whether it be dealing with their jobs, proving themselves to their families, or looking after people close to them who have their own problems.
Fortunately, Ohn and Jira still keep in touch with a group of Ohn’s high school friends called Spectrum Fabulous, primarily including Chon , a tattoo artist, and Thai , a music producer, as well as Nidnoi , Chon’s girlfriend and the youngest in the group. These close friends are the ones who always keep Ohn and Jira grounded. Having people who love them around enables both to see a way out of the problem in order to save their lives from a downward spiral and their partner relationship as well.
“Hard Nights” tells a story about everyday life happenings that may occur on a seemingly ordinary day but are reflection of tenderness and sincerity, moments filled with myriad beauties of life, and truthfulness in one’s heart.
